Loved our experience. Been to quite a few better preserved castles before, but this visit was the most enjoyed. The props on display could actually be handled.
The staff here were very pleasant. They seemed very passionate and were very well versed with the history of the castle - part of why we enjoyed the experience so much.
A special thanks to Gary, who took the time to talk us through weaponry, carpentry and stonework today.
What a nice place to visit, the volunteer was great, he explained to us the history and showed us in the main tower. Kids loved it
You have to visit with guided tour. I couldn’t book online as it was full but luckily the guide said i could join if someone doesn’t come and so I was able to join. The tour takes around one hour and the history of the castle as well as the weapons inside the castle was explained.
Visited Chester castle on Sunday, it's not open often but English Heritage have started putting some events on .next one medieval end of June . I did the revolutionary war. Brilliant day . Another brilliant day at Chester castle. Check the English heritage website for events. Free entry
Such a great site to visit. Especially want to thank Glen for his tour.
Its a beautiful castle that's seen some rough time. I can't wait to go back once it has been restored and refurbed in a way. The volunteers there are doing a great job. Keep an eye open on the english heritage website to find out about the opening days and ticket fares (if any).
Joined for an English heritage open day with reenactment and presentations on medieval skills excellent
Great walk around the walls
